#50 vestigial structures cont… Lucky’s Dew Claw

#50 vestigial structure is a structure or even an organ of an organism that seems to have lost most of its purpose in a species as it evolved. in this case in my picture i am representing a vestigial digit on my dog licky.
Common on most breeds of dogs is the development of a dew claw(an axtual claw located towards the top of the foot. Better seen in my above video of Lucky the dew claw would mainly be used to aid in running but many dogs Dew claws never even touch the floor.

The second type of transport tissue i am covering on my blog. Xylem is a nutrients carrying tissue that helps carry nutrients around vascular plants. the diffrence between the xylem and the phloem is the xylem’s movement is upwards only and its hard walled cells give support and strength to the plant.
my picture represents a tree which somewhere with in its rings has a xylem…(not quite sure how to differentiate it yet but im sure Mrs.Fiser will teach us that.)

epithelial tissue is one of the four main tissues of an organism. Stretching all around the body epithelial tissue has many jobs. From sweat secretion to absorption to protection and the ability to detect sensation epithelial tissue does a lot.

Within every organism the process called cellular respiration is happening. like withing in this fox(also named Zoe) cellular respiration is currently taking place. in a process called glycolysis biochemical energy from nutrients is being converted into ATP. The main part of this cycle is called the Krebs cycle which happens withing the matrix of a cells mitochondria.

This picture of this cute little flower is an example of pollen. in the center of the flower the yellow/orange color is where the stamen is releasing pollen. Pollen is has a hard coat and on the inside holds the plant sperm. POLLEN!

#45 a eukaryote is any organism whose cells contain complex structures with in a membrane. the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells is the existence of a nucleus and nuclear envelope which hold and transfer DNA.
In my leaf above you definitely cant see the individual cells because they are so extremely small but since this leaf is so thin you can see though it with the light and see the groups of cells with their cell walls that make up the leaf.

In this the of relationship one organism will benefit whilst the other has no harm nor benefit.  for example my picture above is of a vine which is climbing up this large tree. for the vine it has a safe place where it can collect sun light(benefit) and for the big tree nothing happens. since the tree is so big the little vine has no effect on it.

this bee here is also a type of pollinator. if you watch the video above i got video of it flying around and actively pollinating these flowers. This jobs isn’t only playing in the pollen but collecting some nectar to return to its nest. you can see how its every day job of retrieving nectar helps more the pollen from flower to flower.

#41  this potato here is an example of a long day plant.
as you would expect from its name a long day plant needs long days of sunlight. with out long days of sunlight plants like potatoes wont flower which means it wont reproduce.

this onion is actually a modified STEM of an onion plant. many people misinterpret the onion because the actual edible part most animals consume is located under ground but it is not the root of this vegetable. this modified stem is swollen leaf base which sits just below the soil level and acts as a storage unit.

#39  ectotherm cont…this photo also represents an ectothermic animal. this baby tortoise is chillin’ under the light like is would chill under the sun out in the open absorbing the warmth to keep itself at a warm homeostasis temperature. also this tortoise is a dark cooler and dark colors will absorb more light.
