#2 My second picture is representative of one of the assigned groupings ” 9. Organisms in same class but different orders”.
In this picture I included a sea fan and hard stone coral. When people lived in the florida keys many years ago they would scavenge the reefs for coral to use in their homes as decoration. Seen as a “crime of nature” nowadays, it’s very rare to find well kept pieces of coral and sea fans.
These two pieces of aquatic sea life come from the common phylum Cnidaria and the common class Anthozoa( meaning sea anemones or corals). Where these two corals separate in the biological classifications is at the order level.
The sea fan is a member of the Gorgonian order, while the stone coral is a member of the Scleractinia order.
Gorgonian are mainly sea fans and soft corals that can be very “branchy” and sway in the currents. While Scleractinia are very strong and hard coral that form the framework of our ocean’s coral reefs.
